SWISSOTEL CESME

WAF 2024 FINALIST

Swissotel Resort and Residences Çeşme is an adaptive reuse project that transformed the 11-storey Sheraton Çeşme Hotel, originally built in 1997, into a modern hotel and residential complex. Dilekci Architects aimed to minimize environmental impact by retaining as much of the existing structure as possible. The design reduced the number of hotel rooms, added new residential units and villas, and removed problematic extensions that disrupted the building’s silhouette. The structure was strengthened to comply with current earthquake regulations, and steel from the old congress centre was reused in the new extensions. By preserving the core and much of the existing structure, the project saved a significant amount of carbon emissions. The design also focused on integrating the building into the city’s context with a silhouette that aligns with its surroundings. The hotel features a congress centre, meeting rooms, and separate pool areas for the hotel and residential sections, while maximizing views of the Aegean Sea.
